Before installing any plugins let us know about some of the limitations of WordPress. WordPress plugins will not be installed with the free plan of a WordPress.com site. To install a plugin you have to buy the business plan of WordPress but you can install plugins free of cost in the wordpress.org sites.
Now, Let's get into the plugin installation process:
- First login into your WordPress account.
- Go to the Plugins section. Hover over the mouse cursor on it. Then click on Add New.
- Search for the plugin name you are looking for in the search box.
- Once you find the plugin, you need to click on the Install Now option.
- After clicking on install now, Activate option will appear. Click on it.
Keep in mind that the WordPress plugin will not work until you have activated it. So make sure to press the activate button.
How to install the plugins zip file on WordPress admin?
You will only be able to install the plugins that are available in the WordPress directory by using the above method. If you want to install a downloaded .zip plugin then follow the steps given below:
- First of all, download a WordPress plugin of the .zip format.
- After the download is complete, log in to your WordPress dashboard using your admin access.
- Go to the Plugins section, then click on the Add New option.
- Then click on the Upload Plugin button.
- Now an upload form will appear. Click on Choose File button and select the downloaded zip file.
- Select the desired file and click on the Install Now button.
After you click on the Install Now button a success message will appear.
- After that click on the Activate plugin link to activate the plugin.
Congratulations you have successfully installed a plugin .zip file.
